| Jordan High School expects personal honor and integrity in our students. Students must assume individual responsibility for academic honor and understand that their behavior reflects both personal character and the reputation of Jordan High School. Families, faculty, and administration share the responsibility to ensure that the Academic Honor Policy is upheld. To Avoid Cheating* and Plagiarism*, Academic Honesty Requires Students to: --Use an approved method to cite sources and identify quoted words, ideas of others and paraphrases --Complete his or her own work on individual assignments --Contribute as an equal partner on collaborative assignments, tests, and other assessments --Neither give nor receive unauthorized help on tests or other assignments Definitions: *Cheating: The giving or receiving of unauthorized help during a test, quiz, or on work to be done individually without assistance *Plagiarism: The use of a published work either in print or from the Internet without crediting the source Undisputed Violations of the Academic Honor Policy Will Result in: --The student receiving a zero for that assignment --The teacher contacting the parent or guardian about the offense --The teacher reporting the incident to the student's counselor and advisors of academic honor societies --The teacher arranging an optional parent-student-teacher conference Disputed Violations of the Academic Honor Policy Will Result in: --A mandatory parent-student-teacher conference with appropriate consequences to be determined --An opportunity for administrative review |
