Notes:
I'll be quick on this one. I was rather impressed with how they took us through
this controversial and complex issue which appears to be a new one. This was
based on a real life case in Colorado which was resolved last year where both
the mother and therapist were found guilty of manslaughter. .
I loved the ending with the big turn it took after the doctor testified. For a
moment I thought we were going to have another round of summations by both
sides. Yet it took us to ME Rodgers who provided valuable info on why the
daugther died. When Jack questions the mother at the end about latex gloves and
corn starch, it was as if Det. Goren from CI was there. That was classic.
One thing though, did any of you get the impression Lennie and Ed were acting
like Jack or Serena would in terms of how they questioned the psychologist on
the girl's problems? May I ask what was the point of having Serena there when
the mother was in interrogation? I could understand her comment about the
lawyer, given her near death (physically and professionally) experience in DR
1-102.
Something I wanted to ask everyone. As you know I like to compare new episodes
with past ones. But in this instance, how would you compare this mother with
other mother defendants from the past. I'm thinking of the ones from
"Endurance" "God Bless the Child" "Disciple"
"Precious" "Mother's Milk" etc. Just for fun, what are your
thoughts of the therapist? Was she like the nun in "Disciple" trying
to save souls or the quack in "Second Opinion"? Does this
"doctor" rank with any of the worst doctors as defendants?
