Notes: I liked the tribute which the narrator gave for the opener of the show.
Instead of "In the criminal justice system ...." he thanked the
firefighters and police officers, and dedicated the season to them and the
victims.
This was based on the SF case involving a young woman being killed by a pit
bull and the lawyers couple held responsible for them.
As for Serena's introduction, I liked it. She was articulate and well prepared.
I truly feel she and Jack are going to be a great combo working together. She
has the savvy of Abby, but the gentleness of Claire and Jaime.
The only thing, there was no real introduction, she just appeared and that's
it. Perhaps that's the way it will be from now on since we know through press
clippings and etc.
Overall, this ep was like most of the recent eps from the past. It has followed
what I call "The Corporate Veil" pattern. Start with the lower end of
the totem pole and work your way up to the head honchos. But the dog scenes
made it unique and I loved the courtroom scene at the end. Finally, I've come
to the realization that our favorite judges (Barry, Quinn, Mooney, Stein, etc.)
won't be coming back. Instead, TPTB will have repeat offenders, like Robert
Hogan in this case, as the trial judge.
Good start so far under tough circumstances. Great to see some new L&O eps
once again!
