Notes:
Wow! I loved how this ep turned out. The way they kept
drip, drip, dripping the plot and keeping us in suspense was terrific. This is
a rare time where there was no arrest of a suspect at the end of the first
half. Instead by the time we got to the "Order" part, we were still
figuring out who did what and who contacted whom. I was still waiting to see
what happened until the end when out of the blue there was this so called
"suicide" by the victim. Or was it a suicide? Maybe the loanshark did
it, maybe it was the wife or Porter, or maybe it was somebody else who ticked
off the vic. If it was suicide, the question becomes why? Was it cancer, some
incurable disease, depression, or a true desire to stick it to the wife and
Porter by coming up with this crazy scheme. If that is the case, that was one
heck of a way of putting it together and carrying it out.
You're wondering how did my choice to be the next regular
on L&O, Bobby C. did? He was great, particularly trying to appear innocent
when many would suspect he's the gulity one. I liked how he was very calm at
Lennie and Ed, denying everything to Serena, then giving Jack some attitude on
the stand. Clearly, this is my number one pick to replace either Ed or Serena
should the time come. I'd say right now, he would fit in being Lennie's
partner. The two have that special NYC street grit which could work.
This kind of reminded me of both "Renunciation"
and "Pursuit of Happiness" in terms of the wife trying to get rid of
the hubby and having a younger lover appear to have done the killing. Obviously
this is different not only because one side is blaming the other, but there are
so many possibilities with all the hitmen and other possible suspects. This
plot should continue in a future ep a la "Encore" and
"Entrapment" because there might be something bigger going on here. Obviously
you have to think about the mob, but there are other angles worth pursuing.
I liked having the US attorney involved once again in a
case and for the first time it seems both sides are cooperating rather than
getting at each other's throats. Could there be something brewing between
Serena and the US attorney? That would certainly shatter any myths of some kind
of romance between her and Jack. I would have like to have seen Abby come back
in her new role just to see how she's doing and for any possible catfights
between her and Serena. However, Mr. Wolf seems not too interested in doing any
new reunions for now.
Had there been more input from both Van Buren and
Thompson, I would have given this a higher grade. Overall though, it was very
good and worthy of being recorded.
