Notes:

Not too bad compared to last week.  There were a few interesting moments here and there.  Some new things were tried out, but there were some common and familiar themes that have been recently used.  So using the chef's scale when cooking meat, I'd give this a medium well.

Joe Fontana is getting to be too much for me!  He's that good.  Mr. Wolf certainly struck gold with this one after the long career of JO.  Whenever I see him these days, I see the combination of many of our favorite dets. from the past.  The wisecracks of Lennie (what was that little thing he had with Dr. Jean Rodgers?), the toughness of Greevey, the looks of Rey, and the great sounding Italian of Ceretta.  I can only hope that Dennis Farina appreciates what he's gotten into and that he will stay around for a long time.  He's the great tonic we needed after Briscoe's retirement and the sad passing of JO in real life.

As to the ep itself, I again loved the way the first half maneuvered from one suspect to another, without going into too much depth.  The way Fontana was against those twins was terrific.  You wonder if Farina ever did this in real life.  The way the arrest was made of the chef was neat too, showing it on their TV screen.  The Martha Stewart quote was classic.

As for the "Order" side, it was nice to see a new twist featured with the juror being grilled by Jack and the defense for being on one side already.  Interesting to see her called to the stand.  This is the first time it's been done, but I wonder if anything will happen down the road when a current juror has to take the stand for something.  What is it with using the court officers as human props?  Good to know at least they are getting some air time this week and a few weeks back with the height thing.

Considering the issue of nullification was brought up, could a juror actually be charged with nullification if proven?  This was a hot topic in the classic S8 of that same name and even Jack suggested then that it was legal.

Great to see a new trial judge this time, and she took no bull from either side.  It would be nice though to see such greats as Rivera, Steinman, Schrieber, and our favorite William Wright back at least one more time.  Speaking of which, and this is something off topic.  Did you think the first judge in last week's ep was as bad as Judge Wright?

Looks like we're heading into rerun land for a few weeks.  It would have been great though to had either Rocco or Emeril make a guest appearance.  Chow!
