Notes:

I liked the way they incorporated the real life NYC Councilman's shooting and then turned it around to make it look like some international terrorism scheme. The way they also brought back Danielle Mellnick was terrific too.

This ep should give us pause as to what was created over 25 years ago and how it's being applied today in this post 9/11 world. You have to wonder what the folks in Washington are up to behind the scenes, especially given a controversial Attorney General like John Ashcroft at the helm.

For a moment I thought this was going to be like Nullification in the sense the jury might either acquit or be hung given a supposed disgust over the far reaching powers of any governmental intrusion. I would raise the argument that Jack's closing was the clincher for conviction on both counts. Because before that, it could have gone either way.

Back to Danielle's return, it was nice to see her back only limping after what she went through last year. It appears not only her life was spared, but the ethics cmte. or the DA didn't see anything rising to the level of disbarrment or criminal charges against her. Since she is a semi-regular now with the likes of Shambala, where would you rank this ep with all of her other appearances?

Lennie's performance as the water inspector rep was brilliant. Only someone like JO can play undercover roles and be real as that person. Just like Chris Meloni on SVU. Those two need to get together for some big project.

Certainly a must taper!
