Notes:
Though I
personally wished this could have been delayed another week because of the
college basketball conference tournaments on tonight, I wasn't disappointed by
the quality of this ep. The way it was written, this could have
easily been a script for SVU.
The thing I
take away from tonight's ep was the intensity of the acting and the brilliant
storyline as we moved throughout the hour. The only thing which bothered
me was that the main crime that was on trial, the murder of this young banker,
got sidetracked by these horrible rapes. Don't get me wrong. I
liked how TPTB got us to believe the testimony of the mom and grandpa didn't
add up, but I wished there was some more closure, some loose ends tied up, as
to how the guy died than just a guilty verdict.
Ed and
Borgia were both off their gourds tonight! I especially liked she wouldn't
let go about these sexual abuses after they were reported, even going at Arthur
for not seeming to believe her. Could it be that she has been a victim of
this crime herself that we may see revealed, a la Abby?
Would have been nice to have seen Dr. Olivet too.
That
defendant was indeed a piece of work. Treating her daughter like some piece of
property and not considering her fragile emotions. But we have a good
idea where that came from. Can anyone say apple tree?
I don't
know what to make of defense counsel, the same annoying one that Jack has had
to deal with recently. Some might have despised what she did in going
after the girl. But an argument can be made that she was only doing her
job and had to follow her client's instructions to a T. I think someone
like Danielle Melnick would have been a better atty for this rhymes with itch.
Finally,
this could have been a great two parter with SVU being the second of the two
shows this time. That cast could have investigated the alleged rapes by
the cold hearted daddy and turn up something more than what we see. This
would have been a great way for Jack to turn this over to Novak. But I
liked his line about "No more deals" at the end.
A good pick
up to some recent lack luster eps.
