Notes: I loved this episode. It is a must tape for many reasons. First, the
intensity which was displayed throughout was great. I loved the emotion which
Ed put in his role after the death of the taxicab driver. He was demonstrating
the same kind of qualities that made Mikey and Rey popular with our viewers.
While we may be down with Angie, you have to admit that Jesse has pulled
himself up and become a force on the force.
This was an unconventional L&O with no courtroom scenes. Everything on the
"Order" side happened either outside, at the FBI, in the squadroom,
Rikers, or Oneida, NY. I would like to see more of this rather than a long
dragged out courtroom scene with speeches, questions, and emotional testimony
that makes us sleep than cry.
This ep was sort of like "Entrapment" from season 7 with the FBI protecting
one of its own. The only difference was in this ep, the case was more complex
and the feds were seen more of as the enemy. Perhaps they could have included
Chuck Rodman, Jaime's friend, as the US attorney to stir things up.
Liked the interjection of the "Law" side in the second half. I know
this upsets the "Order" enthusiasts. But I have always believed some
of the best eps ever is when the detectives continue their investigation in the
second half. Besides, the "Law" side needs their just due because
they often get overlooked every week by the second half courtroom showdown.
Finally, I loved having one actor play two roles in an ep. This is the first
time that has been done. Coming right out the recent SVU ep with a woman
playing the victim and suspect. Like to see more of that technique in the
future.
This was a great ep because it broke away from the recent mold. It also
reminded me of the better days.
