| Resume for Mark McCoy Blues Musician Bass Player Contact Information: phone: (770) 335-7392 email: [email protected] Blues Beginnings I was introduced to music at an early age by my older brothers who would bring home records by Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Animals, and The Who. My first introduction to blues music was listening to Rolling Stones and Yardbirds records. Jeff Beck's Truth album is still one of my all time favorites. I began playing bass at age 12 after 4 years of drum lessons. As a teen, our band played the usual Church dances and Youth Centers. I started playing the blues in 1981. With my brother Tommy on guitar, "Saint" James Judy on Vocals & Harp and Steve Bell on drums we called ourselves The Back Door Blues Band . Booking the blues was not an easy task in these pre-Stevie Ray days but we found an audience playing clubs on the college circuit. We dove heavily into Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter records. Our sets were filled with songs by John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Paul Butterfield, Albert King, Cream and Johnny Winter. Experience I have been a professional working musician for over 25 years. I am currently working with The Jump'n Jukes, a jump blues band based in Atlanta GA. Prior to that I worked with veteran blues singer Patrick Vining. I have also had the pleasure of working with several other fine Atlanta area blues musicians, including Forrest McDonald, Andrew Black, Frankie Lee Robinson and George Price. I occasionally travel back to Florida to perform with my brother, Tommy McCoy, a fine blues guitarist and singer. Before permanently relocating to Georgia in 1997, I worked with The Houseshakers in Orlando, Florida. The Houseshakers were the house band at The Downtown Jazz & Blues Club in downtown Orlando for 5 years. We averaged 165 shows a year, traveling throughout Florida, playing clubs like The Ringside Caf in St. Pete, Tobacco Road in Miami, Frankie's Patio in Ybor City, Trader's in Lakeland, Brassy's in Cocoa Beach, The House Of Blues in Orlando, The Junkyard in Casselberry and The Bank & Blues in Daytona Beach. Musician List Throughout the years I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many fine artists, many of whom I can call my friends. Recently I had the pleasure of performing as a member of Lucky Peterson's band. Among the others are drummer Ronny "Bird" Foster who performed and recorded with Roy Buchanan, keyboard player John Street who is currently touring with Anson Funderburgh, Tommy Talton from Cowboy and Tony Coleman, blues singer and former percussionist with B.B. King's big band. I have also shared the stage with James Peterson, Floyd Radford and Les Dudek.
