Jon enjoyed playing tennis and golf, ran a marathon in '01, and was a 5 time winner of the Ross Shep Hockey Draft. A numbers whiz, Jon excelled in high risk, high reward stock market day trading, and then teamed with his dad in business. Jon graduated from NAIT's Accelerated Accounting program at the top of his class. While Jon's travels took him to the U.S., Turks & Caicos and even Africa, one of his fave destinations was Jasper, Alberta, where he loved biking, hiking, snowboarding, mountain climbing & relaxing in the tranquility of nature.
The late great Jon "Jimmy Coole" McCourt was married to Chrissy and had two cute little babies named Izzy and Lizzy. One newspaper editor had this to say: "Jon was a very handsome man, with a gorgeous family and I am glad he got to meet Elizabeth - until they meet again."
Tragically, Jonny passed away just three weeks after Lizzy was born. The bravery and dignity he displayed in his battle with cancer was awe-inspiring. To the very end, Jon maintained his grace, compassion and wonderful sense of humor. Jon is deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in his beautiful daughters and in the hearts of his wife, parents, family and friends.
