Good Charlotte Goes 80s for New Teen Movie; Confirms MxPx Dates

Good Charlotte will take on the likes of OMD, Kenny Loggins, and Bow Wow Wow
for an as-yet-untitled teen spoof movie set to begin filming in March.
The band will perform in a prom scene in the Columbia Pictures film, which will
star Mia Kirshner (The Crow: City of Angels) and will include updated rock and
roll takes on OMD's "If You Leave," Loggins' "Footloose,"
Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy," and Paul Anka's "Put Your Head on
My Shoulder." The songs are expected to appear on the film's soundtrack as
well, which will surface on an as-yet-undetermined label.
"We've never played a prom," says singer Joel. "Always wanted to.
It's kind of a dream come true. None of us have ever really been able to score
that great of dates, so I'm hoping the movie people will give us some really hot
dates."
Meanwhile, Good Charlotte just wrapped the filming of the video for
"Motivation Proclamation," the second single from the band's
self-titled Epic Records debut, in Los Angeles. "It's really cold out
here," said Joel during the rain-filled filming. "I'm a little
disappointed. I came from D.C., which was really cold and I packed a lot of
shorts and I got here and it was just freezing. I just [filmed] an hour and a
half outside and [the rain] was dripping down the back of my jacket the whole
time."
Good Charlotte will hit the road for a headlining tour beginning Saturday (Feb.
17) in Washington, D.C. before hooking up with MxPx beginning March 7 in San
Antonio, Texas. The first leg of that tour carries on through March 25 in
Seattle.
