My Review: S.W.A.T.
Another Colin Farrell movie. Another Colin Farrell movie about cops, or something related to that. Another Colin Farrell movie that I saw. Another Colin Farrell movie that I am reviewing.

So how exactly was this, how you say?...
S.W.A.T.? What of those Misters Jackson and Farrell? And more importantly...how much skin did this Farrell guy show?

None.

And he's good for it. The thing I like about Colin is he's not that look-at-me-i'm-frolicking-in-a-too-too pretty-boy pretty-boy. See there's this interesting twist about him that he has: the ability to make
good movies. NOOO? You say? Yes, children, yes.

Mr. Farrell does NOT need to take off his shirt to put people in theaters. In fact, I will now proceed to count the times I've seen him on the covers of
Teen People, YM, and Seventeen: Huh? Zero? Precisely genius. He's busy working on movies that matter. You'd never catch Colin making please-hold-me-now flicks like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days or please-kill-me-now flicks like Maid in Manhattan. Yes, in my opinion this man in particular is something sexy, and yes that beauteous Irishness of him is enough to make him, especially to an accent-lovin' chick like me, appealing. But wow, how many movies of his that I've seen have I like? It's incredible: All of them.

But what exactly about
S.W.A.T. ? I've read some of the other, more professional reviews in which one called it "emotionally bankrupt," which amazingly is true. And I applaud that.

S.W.A.T. is what we movie-folk like to call an action flick. THIS IS A COP MOVIE. This is not The Police Officer and His Sex Life or that hit documentary series S.W.A.T. : INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM. There's not intertwining love triangles or hidden signals or intensly dramatic life or death situations in which we are powerless to refrain from falling in love on the jobs. There's an interest, yes. See Colin break up with girlfriend. See Colin take Michelle Rodriguez to bar. See Colin shoot gun. See Colin shoot gun at people. See blood. It's a great, strait-forward, COP movie. Or, Special Weapons And Tactics movie, to be exact.

So what of the other people in the movie? yes, they're there, if you look hard enough. Obviously we must discuss the explosive and legendary Samuel L. Jackson. He is everything a black man should be. Real tall, real kick-ass, and still got it goin' on. Sure this is not his biggest action role. This is not his best performance. This is not the Academy Award Winning film of the year. But  it is also not a waste of your money. Sam's the man, man. And don't argue with me or I'll slap you.

I think by now you've got my opinion on Colin Farrell, but I just want to add, like Sam, this isn't his best performance. This isn't his greatest movie. But it's not the worste.

Now of course let's throw some shouts to the chick from
Blue Crush and Resident Evil, Michelle Rodriguez. You can see her once again kicking asses by the masses. There's LL Cool J who is probably boning Miss J.Lo behind beautiful Ben's back...or not. I couldn't resist. He's swell...as well. Look at me go.

Also, there's that dude from ABC's
Sports Night (couple o' years o'go) and something that I found to be quite exciting, Jeremy Renner as the big baddie (no I didn't spoil it, it's no secret dude) and for those of you (I'm sure by the thousands) going "Who the hell's Jeremy Renner?" Well I had no idea either actually upon entering the movie. I just knew from the moment I saw him he was "that dude from Angel" (<--which season 5 premiere's Oct. 1 on the WB!!!). Amazingly, right off the bat (what does that mean anyway?) I knew that he played Penn, a vampire from Angel's past come back to toy with him in the Season 1 episode "Somnambulist" in which Kate finds out the truth about Angel. Oh, S.W.A.T., right. What was I saying? Oh. There are people in the movie. Go them.

My Rating: B+
Conclusion: Bullets. Jackson. Farrell. Guy from
Angel. Fun.
