McAlester Archeological Society
The McAlester Archeological Society
was an active chapter of the O.A.S. a few years ago but for some reason
had ceased to operate. It was re-opened on December 19th of 2005 and
reinstated on January 28th of 2006, with a membership of 10 members at
that time. . We meet at 7pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Krebs City Hall, located on Highway 31 in Krebs, Oklahoma. Our
goal is to find and preserve historical and prehistorical sites in
Oklahoma. We are a non-profit organization with a membership of around
30 members at the present time. We do hope to increase the membership.
Dues for membership are $5 per person or $10 for a family, per year.
The chapter year is from January 1st thru December 31st. Those joining
in November or December will be considered paid up until the following
December 31st. We have a different speaker or demonstration at
each meeting. These programs range from archeology dig sites, to
historical books or events, to demonstrations of weapons, and the
making and use of tools made from stone. We sincerely hope you enjoy
our site, and the information and pictures of some of the people, and
the work done on some of the archaeological excavations we have been
privileged to participate in around the state. Everyone is invited to attend any or all of our monthly meetings, and to join the chapter. If you’re interested in helping to preserve the history of our great state, attend some of the meetings and see and hear what is being done to attain this goal. For Every Archaeological Site Destroyed
