Chloris truncata

Distribution in Canberra Region. Widespread but uncommon in the region; usually occurs as minor component of grassy communities, and especially on disturbed ground.

Dispersal. Seeds are dispersed by wind, water and animals.

General Description and Biology

Low-growing, in tufts or spreading; warm-season perennial.
Leaves sparse, pale blue-green during warm months, to 10 cm long, 2-5 mm wide;
hairless, stiff, partly folded, broad rounded tips.
Seedheads short, borne on 6-9 radiating fingers, red to purple then creamy.
Flowers from December to February.
In flower can resemble couch grass (which has smaller seed-head).
