Origin. Eurasia.

Distribution in Canberra Region. Widespread in woodland, grasslands and disturbed areas.

Dispersal. By wind, water, machinery and animals.

General description and biology.

Leaves pale green, broad (1-2 cm), not hairy; robust stems, to 80 cm tall.
Inflorescence a loose branching arrangement with large drooping spikelets.
A very invasive annual.
