Austrodanthonia spp

Distribution in Canberra Region. Widespread & very common in the region, often becoming the dominant vegetation in pastures. Tolerate soils of low fertility & pH.

Dispersal. Seeds are dispersed by wind, water and animals.

General Description and Biology

Leaves deep-green to blue-green, 1-5 mm wide, up to 20 cm long.
Leaves mostly finely hairy (c.f. Chilean Needlegrass: coarsely hairy.).
Seedheads range from compact to fluffy; cream to white when mature.
Flowers October-December, on stems to 50 cm tall.
Tolerant of drought and regular grazing.
