Origin. Europe.
Distribution in Canberra Region. Widespread in woodland, riverine, pasture and disturbed areas.
Dispersal. Birds; possums; water.
General Description and Biology
Eventually becomes a large tree, up to 7 m high, with trunk up to 1 m or more in diameter.
Thorns, 1-2 cm long, occur in profusion on smaller branches.
Leaves wedge-shaped at the base, deeply lobed, up to 3-4 cm diameter, bright green � paler underneath.
Flowers pink or white.
Fruits bright red, not in dense clusters but more scattered along the branches.
1 or 2 seeds per fruit.
Invades dry forests, woodlands and grasslands.
