Cocksfoot

Dactylis glomerata

Origin. Europe.

Distribution in Canberra Region. Disturbed and woodland areas.

Dispersal. By animals, people, wind and water.

General description and biology.

Tufted; leaves blue-green, 4-8 mm wide, to 30 cm long, flat or folded, with prominent centre rib.
Seed-head somewhat resembles Phalaris but stem is branched with multiple cylindrical seed-heads on tips of branches.
