I am selling my 1971 Red Convertible Mustang, because I need the cash to buy a daily driver. Some dummy ran a red light and totalled out my 1999 Mustang. I really hate to part with it, but I must. I am looking for someone who will take good care of it and treat it with the respect it deserves.
This page contains pictures I took before I put the stripes on it. Why am I showing you these if the car currently has the stripes on it? Because the car looked great without it and if you prefer you can take them off. I barely put them on last month... so you could easily return it to this condition. I prefer the stripes but you might not.
My car has just undergone a complete renovation. The paint was done in 1999 as well as the interior. The car is NOT a show car but it is really awesome looking! Everything, from engine bay to doorwells is painted to perfection (one edge of the hood toward the back and one small edge of the trunk need a dab of touch up paint). It was stripped to the bare metal although it had no rust on the outside anyway. There was one tiny spot on the hood where a little spot of bondo was used and that is all (one other small spot on the back quarter panel, but not noticeable). It is not a show car, but turns heads... bigtime! This body is solid and straight. It has not been wrecked as far as I know. Here are some pictures of the outside:

The floorpans did have some rust but were replaced all the way around the car. They were then covered with some weatherproofing and all painted black. Even under the NEW carpet the workmanship and care shine through. The carpet is new and the front and back seats were reupholstered, as were the doors and the dashboard. All were done to the original vinyl design, but with a better looking vinyl. It is really nice inside9other than a couple place where the ribbing has come unsewn. If you require the original factory interior you could buy a $200 kit and redo it yourself. I like the new vinyl better. Here are some pictures of the interior:

The engine was rebuilt and balanced 5000 miles ago. It has 99,000 original miles and was rebuilt at 93,000. It is the original 351 2v block. It has 4v heads on it, with a Holley 700 4barrel carb with a vaccuum secondary(carb totally rebuilt last month). This provides alot of power at top speeds. You nail the gas even at 70mph and the back two open up. This forces all four barrels open. This goes into the 4v heads and then all that gas goes into the 2 barrel block. You had better have your seat belt on 'cuz your about to take flight. I have gotten it up to 120mph and the car wanted to go more. I must admit I am a little wimpy and did not want to peg any radars at over 100 so I eased off. Here are some pictures of the engine:

They also put some really cool chrome stems on the wheels (not shown in the picture)
I will include a new $130 car cover I just bought 4 months ago.
I also replaced the outside door handles with NEW ones. They are now new and work really great!!!!!
NOW, what is wrong with the car....
The steering wheel is the original and could do with replacing... it is not bad... but the rest looks new.... (except for the seat piping)
also the console lid shows its age. Replacements are hard to find, but they make a beautiful aftermarket full console that would look fabulous.
The problem with the heighth of the car has been fixed. It is back to stock ride height thanks to new front coil springs and back leaf springs. I also replaced the shackles on the back springs and the insulators and spring perchs on the front. This has made all the difference. The cars suspension is AWESOME now! The front end was re-aligned after this work was done too. You can literally drive this with one finger at top speed!
The top is new as is the weatherstrip all the way around but I still would not sit in a hurricane. Don't get me wrong... the top itself does not leak, but water will seep in around the windows. Some slight adjusting should tighten that up.
The front windshield is the original and is a little hazy.
The rearview mirror remote stick is broken off. The system works and I have a replacement cable and stick but did not replace it.
The car originally had air-condition, but the previous owner took out the components. They can be replaced. The ducts and controller are in place and the heater does work.
