Pictures Of Our Old Madrasah

Madrasah Baqiyathus Salihath was established in 1987, with the approval from Selangor State Islamic Authorities (Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor). During this period there were around 250 Indian Muslim families residing in the Ampang district where the Madrasah is located. Most families were poor and lacked basic Islamic education. This disturbing state of affairs alerted concerned and committed Muslims, principally Mr. Oli Mohamed (now President), Mr. Zainal Abedeen, Mr. Sultan Bin Ismail and Mr. Sharbudin (now Secretary) to establish the Madrasah.

The original Madrasah was a humble structure, built with wood and hollow bricks with a zinc roof and was located behind Mr. Zainal’s house. It was built by the residents themselves. Ustaz Mohamed Saleh (now an Imam in Masjid India Kuala Lumpur) was engaged to educate the initial class of 25 children and provide Islamic education and guidance to adults. All expenses in running the Madrasah was borne by the residents of Ampang and around Kuala Lumpur.

In the years that followed many housing estates sprung up in Ampang district and there was a considerable increase in the Indian Muslim population. The Madrasah could not accommodate this rise in the Indian Muslim population.

Thus, in 1994, the original Madrasah was demolished and replaced with a two story concrete building. The ground floor is being used as classrooms and the first story used as prayer hall. The total construction costs was borne by residents of Ampang and private donations from Muslim individuals all over Malaysia. May Allah bless them all bountifully in this world and the hereafter. At present, there are 80 students attending regular classes at the Madrasah. Classes are conducted five days a week, in the morning and in the afternoon. The Madrasah has three full time teachers.

To encourage students to attend the classes conducted at the Madrasah, the management committee arranges transport for students of the Madrasah.

Madrasah ini telah di tubuhkan pada tahun 1987, dengan kebenaran daripada Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor. Penubuhan Madrasah ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberi bimbingan agama kepada masyarakat India Muslim di kawasan Ampang yang pada masa itu berjumlah 250 keluaga. Kebanyakan dari mereka adalah dari golongan miskin dan kurang pengetahuan agama. Disebabkan oleh ini, terdapat sebilangan dari mereka yang telah murtad dan hampir murtad. Menyedari keadaan genting ini maka madrasah ini ditubuhkan. Bangunan asal didirikan dengan separuh papan dan separuh batu. Pada mulanya seorang ustaz telah dilantik untuk mengajar 25 orang murid dan membimbing beberapa orang dewasa. Semua perbelanjaan dibiayai penuh oleh masyarakat setempat dan kutipan derma dari para dermawan sekitar kawasan Kuala Lumpur.

Pada tahun 1994 bangunan asal telah dirobohkan dan diganti dengan sebuah madrasah dua tingkat. Tingkat bawah dijadikan madrasah dan tingkat atas dijadikan surau. Kos pembinaan dibiayai penuh oleh masyarakat setempat dan daripada seluruh negara tanpa bantuan dari pihak kerajaan.

Kini seramai 80 orang murid belajar di madrasah ini pada sessi pagi dan petang dengan dibantu oleh tiga orang tenaga penajar. Kelas agama diadakan lima hari seminggu.

Kami juga memiliki sebuah permit bas. Permit ini dipajak kepada seorang pemilik bas sekolah yang ditugaskan untuk mengambil murid-murid daripada seluruh kawasan Ampang ke madrasah.
