| Weather Window will be moving to a new website later this year. | |||||||||
| Q: Why are you moving Weather Window to another hosting source? A: Yahoo! has broke the news that they're closing down GeoCities. A friend of mine has suggested another web hosting program. I don't know which one, but I'm leaning more towards Xtreem Host. Q: Why is Yahoo! shutting down GeoCities? A: I don't know. I still have yet to get an answer from them, but I'm assuming it's due to the flaling economy. They're scaling back on a few of their services, and GeoCities, I'm afraid happens to be one of them. Apparently, the staff at Yahoo! (no disrespect to them) didn't think this through. Q: Will I still enjoy the same weather information? A: Yes, and more to come as soon as I settle with a new web hosting service. Q: How will I know of your new web address after the closure? A: Until I get things settled in with a new web hosting program, you can check out the "Lite" version of "Weather Window" powered by Google Sites. Still under construction, but here's the URL: http://sites.google.com/site/tswxwindow. I'll also be posting that URL on the front page from June until the time of the closure. Q: Your page has been growing throughout the years on GeoCities. What happened? A: Again, I don't know. The news of the shut down all of the sudden came out of nowhere. Q: When will the transition take place? A: I'm gonna experiment with Xtreem Host this Summer. If it all goes well, the transition will take place sometime in August or September this year. Q: I'm a GeoCities user too! What will happen to my site? A: It's gonna be shut down as well, but you can save your data this summer. If it all goes well with Xtreeme Host, I very much recommend it, however if you have the money to spend, you can upgrade to Yahoo! Web Hosting for $4.99/month for 12 months. Otherwise, for more information, read Yahoo! GeoCities' Q&A page regarding the closure. |
