In the top of the 2nd inning Sycamore went on top for good plating an isolated run on 3 hits. Johnny Mize laced a single. After an out was recorded, Arky Vaughan came to the plate and lashed a single. Sam Crawford then laced a one-base hit scoring the run. That was all the runs Alexander needed. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. Alexander was helped out by Hoyt Wilhelm who recorded his 2nd save. |
