At Candlestick Park the indomitable Lake Erie Mohawks outscored the hopeless
Hinckley Buzzards 8 to 5.

Lake Erie took the lead for good in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs on 2 hits.
Bill Mueller led off the inning for Lake Erie when he banged out a single.
Buck Ewing next to the plate and he cracked a two-run shot (his 6th of the
season).  Fred Toney(1-1) was helped out by John Wetteland who pitched a
perfect ninth and recorded his 14th save. 

The loss was charged to Don Sutton(9-16).  Lake Erie scored big getting 6 runs
off him in 5 innings.
