Sisler had a good day at the plate. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 10th of the season) in the 1st inning, banged out a single knocking in a run in the 5th inning and doubled which scored a run in the 7th inning. Lake Erie had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. John Clarkson(4-0) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Dennis Eckersley was credited with his 30th save. Sandy Koufax(16-9) suffered the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings of work. 'He gutted it out' Cleveland's manager said of Clarkson. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.' |
