First baseman Mark Grace jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI at
League Park as the mighty Lake Erie Mohawks won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Cleveland Mayors by the count of 6 to 5.

Lake Erie came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 4 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Grace who helped
quiet the crowd when he smacked a three-run homer (his 1st of the season).
The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Dick Hughes(8-4) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2/3 of an inning.
Hoyt Wilhelm was credited with his 33rd save.  Dennis Eckersley(1-5) was
charged with the loss in relief.

After the game, it took a long while before Cleveland's manager emerged from
his office.  In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions.  He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand.  I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the Lake Erie locker room.'
