The Cleveland Mayors won by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4. Slim Sallee(2-0) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance. He did not allow a baserunner in his 1 inning. Limerick had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Dennis Eckersley got the save, his 28th. Cy Young(4-12) absorbed the loss. 'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Jimmy Dugan 'But we have to get over it and get ready for the next game.' |
