Mickey Mantle blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Tiger Stadium where the
Grand River Ghostmen beat the Brentwood Bearcats 15 to 7.

Mantle provided much of the offense.  He doubled in the 1st inning, cracked a
solo homerun in the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning and rifled a
three-run blast (his 38th of the season) in the 6th inning.  Grand River kept
the scorekeepers busy in the 4th inning with 3 runs on 4 hits, the 5th inning
when they had 3 runs on 3 hits and the 6th inning with 3 runs.  The Grand
River offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

The win was credited to George Winter(2-1) who went 4 and 2/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Bob Lemon(13-10) suffered the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 11 hits and 6 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Mantle said 'next
time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
