George Grantham smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Limerick Hurlers
defeated the pitiful Cleveland Mayors by a score of 11 to 10 at League
Park.

The Cleveland fans didn't appreciate the big day Grantham had.  He stroked a
base-hit in the 3rd inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning and
cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 13th of the season) in the 6th
inning.  Babe Adams earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 8th save.

Jim Devlin(7-7) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 10 runs for the victory.
Dwight Gooden(4-6) was the loser in relief.  His ERA ballooned from 5.09 to
5.64 as he allowed 5 runs without retiring a batter.

Grantham said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight.  You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can.  A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
