In a dramatic ending the Grand River Ghostmen staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Brentwood Bearcats by the count of 9 to 8.

Grand River had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs.  After an out
was recorded, Augie Galan kicked off the action when he smashed a solo-shot
out of the park (his 1st of the season).  Mickey Mantle stepped into the
batter's box and he drew a walk.  Buck Guthrie then called for a steal which
was successful.  Willie Mays followed and he would hit into a fielders choice
plating another run.  Grand River continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base.  Bill Dickey kept the rally going and would hit into a
fielders choice scoring the final run of the inning.  Grand River finished
with 10 hits in the victory.

The win was credited to Andy Messersmith(4-6) who went 2 innings allowing 1
run. Goose Gossage(2-7) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Brentwood's manager was not very talkative after his team's tough loss.  'I'm
not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Buck Guthrie will be glad to talk
about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
