First baseman Joe Kelley had 2 base hits at Candlestick Park as the red-hot North Eaton Posy DagGumits beat the pitiful Hinckley Buzzards by the count of 7 to 5. North Eaton won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning when they scored 6 runs on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Smoky Burgess who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled plating three runs. Both teams totaled 10 on the night. Ed Walsh(17-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 5 runs. Masanori Murakami earned the save, his 2nd. Lee Smith(2-7) took the loss in relief. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Walsh, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.' |
