In a tight game it was the Cleveland Mayors 7, the Grand River Ghostmen 5 in
11 innings at Yankee Stadium.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Cleveland won the game in the
11th inning.  Eddie Collins started the inning off right when he doubled.
Rod Carew next to the plate and he drew a walk.  After another out, Edgar
Martinez followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Ernie Lombardi came up
and he laced a base-knock driving in a run.  Joe Morgan stepped into the box
and stroked a single scoring the final run of the inning.  Cleveland managed
9 in their victory. 

Joe Berry(2-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Rube Kroh(3-3) in relief.  His ERA ballooned
from 5.11 to 5.54 as he allowed 2 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
