Pud Galvin(1-3) finally bested his Grand River opposite, Nap Rucker(4-2), by the score of 2 to 1. Galvin earned his pay with a solid performance for Galvin. He went 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks. Grand River made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Dennis Eckersley earned the save, his 25th. Rucker was the loser. 'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Buck Guthrie said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.' |
