Kelso never recovered after North Eaton took the lead in the 3rd inning scoring a single run. Kelso threatened in the 9th but North Eaton was able to put down the rally. Rube Waddell(14-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and allowing 1 run. Bryan Harvey earned the save, his 4th. Mickey Welch(6-14) ended up with the loss. He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings. Kelso's manager was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more white hairs on this noggin of mine.' |
