Willie Stargell jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI as the Brentwood
Bearcats won in dramatic fashion over the Grand River Ghostmen by a score of
9 to 8 at Yankee Stadium.

Brentwood erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning as
they scored 4 runs on 2 base hits.  The key at-bat was by Stargell who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he rifled a three-run blast (his 37th of
the season).  This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 5 times.

Bert Blyleven(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Blyleven got help
from Goose Gossage who was credited with his 22nd save.  Sal Maglie(0-1) was
charged with the loss in relief.

Brentwood's manager was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your
last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out
there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead.  But, hey,
that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says,
'it's not over 'til its over.'
