WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Eddie Mathews robbed Bob Feller of a base hit.

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Kelso Hilanders rallied to top North Eaton Posy DagGumits by the score of 3
to 2.

Kelso had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits. Pete Rose
led off and started the attack as he doubled.  Jack Fournier stepped up to
the plate and he singled.  Wills then stole second base.  Jeff Montgomery
then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed ball plating a run.
Roberto Clemente stepped into the box and lashed a single giving Kelso the
victory and sending the 46,559 home-town fans home happy.  Kelso had 8 hits
for the game and North Eaton had 5.

The victory was credited to Charlie Hough(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Montgomery(3-5) was the loser in relief.  Hough and Pete
Browning were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come
from behind victory.  As Kelso's manager noted, 'A win like this one can do
wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
