One run was the difference at Tiger Stadium as the streaking Brentwood
Bearcats defeated the Bat Cracking Bombers 6 to 5.

Brentwood tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 5 base
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Ernie Banks who made the Brentwood
fans a happy lot when he laced a one-base hit plating two runs. Bat Cracking
threatened in the 9th but Brentwood was able to put down the rally.

Kevin Brown(13-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
3 runs. Goose Gossage got the save, his 19th. Joe McGinnity(6-6) suffered
the loss.

Bat Cracking's manager was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts.
If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won
that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
