Ridgeville Bandits in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 3 at Municipal Stadium. The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Limerick ended up winning it in the 11th inning. Heine Groh got things going when he drew a walk. Groh got a good lead and stole second. Hal Trosky then lined a single. Yogi Berra followed and he lashed a single scoring a run. Grantham came to the plate and worked the squeeze play to perfection scoring one more run. After another out, Edd Roush stepped in and he was walked intentionally. Dave Bancroft stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Limerick out-hit N. Ridgeville for the game, 10 hits to 6. The victory was credited to Lefty Leifield(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. Leifield got relief help from Dick Hall who gained credit for his 6th save. Mel Harder(2-3) absorbed the loss in relief. |
