In a close game it was the Cleveland Mayors 6, the Harvey Wallbangers 4 at
League Park.

Sid Fernandez(4-1) was solid if not spectacular.  He went 6 and 2/3 innings
allowing 9 hits and 1 walk.  The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning as
neither team was able to score again.

Dennis Eckersley gained credit for his 4th save.  Gaylord Perry(1-2) was the
loser.  'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even
without his best stuff,' Cleveland's manager said after the game.  'Fernandez
did not have command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he
really knew how to pitch!
