"Vision of Our Earth Mother"
Her womb, the Earth, swollen, full of life. Her heavy breasts, the Sun and Moon. Her arms, the four winds:North,South,East and West colored with the four powers:Cold,Heat,Light and Darkness. In each hand she bears symbols to teach our weakened spirits. Her eyes hold the universe, vast, neverending. Shimmering stars orbit her head. The glittering light revealing her beauty, outward and within.
She Teaches
North
She holds the egg, Protecting the fertility of land, animals and people. As Northern tribal heritage is reborn through each generation,so is the balance of life.
South
She holds the candle. It burns with the futility of the third world. The flames beautiful, inviting, yet untouchable, destructive. Melting wax drips through her fingers just as their people ignored and forgotten, slip through the cracks of bureacracy.
East
She holds the Jade elephant, The gleaming treasures of the Eastern world. Treasures of the heart and soul shining from within. Riches exceeding all but that of the spirit of the faithful.
West
She holds the teacup. It is filled with bittersweet tea from the East. Civility brought to the savage West with the sweetness of knowledge,of new ways and ideas and the bitterness of death,of our people, land and traditions.
