I am from Troy, Michigan which is about twenty miles outside of Detroit. It is the eleventh largest city in Michigan by population and the largest in my county. I have lived there all of my life and my parents grew up not too far outside of that area. The high school I attended is about the same size as Albion (roughly two-thousand students) and was ranked in Newsweek as one of the top public high schools. We are known for our rigorous academics and our extremely accomplished band and orchestra. Sutton Foster, a notable actress on several Broadway shows went to my high school along with Steven Yeun, an actor in the Walking Dead series.
My family also owns a house in Caseville, Michigan which is right next to Saginaw Bay, in the "thumb" of Michigan. It's quite a bit different from Troy, which makes it a nice place to escape too. It has a total population of less than one-thousand and its main claim to fame is the Caseville Cheeseburger festival which is a tribute to Jimmy Buffet's song "Cheeseburger in Paradise".
