| Neon Sign Transformers |
| Three 15,000 volt / 30 mA neon sign transformers power this coil. They are wired in parallel to produce a total of 90mA of current. At the time the coil was first completed, only 2 NST's were employed. I added the third later on, and it greatly improved the overall spark output of the coil. The streamers are hotter and longer than that of just two NST's. |
| All high voltage connections are made with Belden 18 AWG gauge, 40,000 volt rated wire. This is the same stuff used on cathode ray tubes in televisions and computer monitors. |
| With the addition of the third NST (the white one on the right), additional power factor correction caps were required. They are mounted to the right of the NST. |
