Before I share the wisdom of cooking ages with you, I believe it is wise to cover some ground rules before you go lighting things on fire or trying to fry a bagel. It's a wonder I haven't burned down the house yet. So on the the helpful hints I've compiled. Yes, me. I cook. Ha: 1) Don't put tin foil in the microwave. 2) Turn the egg beaters on once they're in whatever it is you're egg beating, not before, or it'll come out of the bowl and onto your kitchen/clothes/skin. 3) Oven mitts will catch on fire if they touch a burner in the oven. 4) If a fudge recipe calls for "sugar," they mean confectionary sugar. 5) Broil does not mean fry in oil. Put it in the oven but put it on the broil setting so the heat comes from the top. 6) If your cake has a large air bubble in the center, don't pop it and fill the hole you'll make in with frosting. 7) If you want to make your own choco food for some reason or another, don't assume the chocolate will mix in with the batter once it's melted. It will, in fact, not melt and blend in, but melt and reform into a huge choco blob. Cut the choco blob up before you melt it. If you forget this, pretend you didn't and award a prize to whomever finds the chocolate. Kinda like a king cake on Mardi Gras. Does anyone else feel a Mardi Gras themed party coming?
