For Sam, the mailman cometh

Fantasy league week two: Instant replay

Gifts abound for big brother

Katy, a pair of Mount Rushmore T-shirts Sam immediately dubbed "Katy shirts."
One day later, he received an identical package from Judy and Mick. In it was a pair of Notre Dame T-shirts, again, one for Sam and one for Ben. Sam wore his on Saturday, which happened to be game day, and refused to take it off.
He ended up sleeping in it and wearing it most

of the day Sunday, until Mike, a.k.a. "Daddy," insisted, amid protests, that it be removed.
Finally, on Friday, a package from Bridget and uncle-to-be Mack arrived. It contained a pair of munchkin-size silk robes from their recent excursion through Southeast Asia. The robes are so pretty that Lanie is considering framing them.

COVINGTON -- For the second straight week, Besty and Shane have displayed their supremacy in the family fantasy football league.
Their team, strangebrew, remains undefeated. After breaking the single-game 100-point barrier, it also is the top-scoring team.
strangebrew is among three undefeated teams left. The others: second-place The A-Team, skippered by Mike Scott, and BlutUndEisen, Bobby's team.

For three straight days last week, the mailman delivered gifts from generous aunts and uncles, partly to welcome Ben and partly to make Sam know he is still wanted.    On day one, Wednesday, he and Ben received a package from

Up next: Ironman?    Stay tuned ...

CHALMETTE, La. -- Bobby has already proven his prowess as a runner, but now he can add something new to his list of specialties: cycling.
On Sunday he competed in the 22nd annual Pelicanman Duathlon, finishing ninth overall in a field of more than 100.
The endurance event is composed of three legs: a 2-mile run, followed by a 10-mile bike, followed in turn by another 2-mile run.       He was awarded what he said is "a li'l trophy."

SUMMERTIME, AND THE LIVIN'S EASY: How can it not be when you have a melon larger than your head at your disposal? Sam found himself in just that situation recently. Suffice it to say that he made the most of it. (Photo by Mike)
