Modine finds new home       on Internet

For now ...

encounter with one of those "mangey dogs," but an aboriginal fortune teller warned them of other dangers:
"Turns out we're both strong, lucky and will be married only once. ... BUT Mack is to be careful around motorcycles, cars, etc. as August is a 'bad iron month.' He is also to remember to 'swim slowly' if he goes into the water this month."
The beauty of their trip, however, has far outweighed any negatives as they work their way to Singapore and a late-August return to Chicago.

NEW ORLEANS -- The Gunches have been online for a few months now, but they now are the proud owner of a newer, slicker Web site, thanks to Gumdrop, also known as Katy.
Katy recently took it upon herself to redesign the Web site of Modine Gunch, Liz's literary alter ego. The old site was designed by one of Liz's students at Loyola and, while decent, lacked pizzazz.
Katy tried to solve that, adding artwork, flashy icons and column excerpts. She even went so far as to register it with some of the bigger search engines, such as Alta Vista, Yahoo, Excite, AskJeeves and Google.
In fact, Katy boasts, if you perform a search for "Modine Gunch" at Alta Vista, her site is the first entry to pop up. "I'm a big dork; what can I say?" Katy said.
Visit the new Gunch site at www.fortune city.com/business/ success/1467. It's still a work in progress, so visit it often.

KO PAHN GAHN, Thailand -- Bridget and Mack are past the halfway point of their backpacking tour of Southeast Asia, and so far they have managed to avoid the "hostile monkeys" the guide books warned them about. There are still plenty of hazards to worry about, however.
In her recent correspondences from the road, she raved about her surroundings, but there were some alarming descriptions as well. In a note from an Internet cafe in Thailand,

Hostile monkey

("I'm typing to you from a keyboard with both English and Thai letters ... forgive the typos.) she described some of the sights in the city of Panang. "There are rats, huge bats, wild cats and mangey dogs all over the place, and the air makes the N.O. French Quarter seem as fresh as an Irish spring," she wrote.
   They had a close

Baby Ben adjusting to     life ouside

COVINGTON, La. -- No news is good news where Baby Ben is concerned.
On his two-week birth anniversary, he and his family are settling in nicely.
Ben is happy, healthy and, thankfully, not colicky.
Sam is still enjoying his company, and Lanie is bouncing back from the big day.

WHERE'S THE BEEF? Kelly, left, and Steven feed some sort of beef-type animal while visiting Global Wildlife Center in Folsom, La. They joined Bobby, Lesley,  Lanie, Mike, Sam, Liz and Katy on the May 29 trip, which involved feeding all types on animals from a covered wagon behind a tractor.
