Robert Augustus hits the big oh-one

NEW ORLEANS -- Surrounded by his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, Gus celebrated his first birthday Saturday with an Easter-themed shindig that left everyone with enough Easter candy to last until Halloween.
Decked out in his Easter finery -- and that ubiquitous smile -- little Gus led Kelly, Steven and Sam on a hunt for Easter Eggs that was just one of many highlights of the day.
Gus' father even did his part to make sure the backyard hunt would go off without a hitch: "Vince de-pooed the yard for the Easter-egg hunt," Sherry wrote in an e-mail, apparently an effort to whet appetites for the festivites.
In addition to games, party-goers were treated to goody baskets -- Easter-themed of course. Even Betsy was in the spirit of the weekend, gifting her neices and nephews with candy-filled "baskets" that looked suspciously like bedpans. ("Hey! That's not a peanut-butter egg!")

CELEBRITY HUNT

NEW ORLEANS -- As if Easter Sunday and Gus' birthday were not enough to make his weekend busy, Sam got an opportunity to see one of his favorite cartoon characters in-person: Arthur.

TOP TIME
NEW ORLEANS -- As has become his annual tradition, Bobby took to the streets on Saturday to participate in the 22nd running of the Crescent City Classic.
He completed the 6.2-mile course in an official time of 39:34. (And an actual time of 39:27, but who are we to argue?)
In an estimated field of 20,000, Bobby managed to finish in the top 500 for the fourth year in a row and, as such, saw his named published in the Times-Picayune -- for the fourth year in a row.
His top finish also earned him a coveted CCC poster, this year an "impressionist view" done in "a brilliant palette of spring colors" by a guy named "Tuna."
"Lesley, Kelly, Steven and Paw-Paw Ray were cheering me on at the finish line, and we all enjoyed the post-race party," Bobby said.

made an appearance at the Audubon Zoo on Sunday, meeting and greeting throngs of thrilled children. It is probably important

Arthur

"Gramps"

to note that while Arthur Read (the character's full name) is one of Sam's favorite cartoon characters, he is not Sam's favorite Arthur. That distinction would go to the man Sam knows simply as "Silly Gramps."
Sam did not get an autograph from Arthur, but the friendly aardvark (yes, that's what Arthur is) waved at him.
While at the zoo, Sam got a chance to see lots of other animals in addition to Arthur the Aardvark, including baby monkeys.
