SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- Bobbleheads, schmobbleheads.
Any sports fan worth his spit knows that the REAL collectibles don't have seizures. No, real sports fans collect the big stuff, the authentic stuff.
   Guess that makes
Shane a real sports fan.
On a lark over the summer, he placed a bid in an online auction for a desk and backdrop used on the set of ESPN's SportsCenter from 1996 to 2000. "I believe his exact words to me were, 'Oh by the way, I bid on some desk on e-Bay today, but there is no way I will get it,'"
Betsy said.
You know what happens next. "The next day, he checked his e-mail, and, guess what: He won the desk," Betsy said.
One small problem. The desk is huge. (So huge, in fact that half of it is actually bound for the Smithsonian, Betsy says.) Because of its size, it took until this month to arrange delivery.
"It is rather large," Betsy said, "and comes complete with a 6-foot-by-6-foot SportsCenter backdrop. I guess the backdrop is just in case we decide to shoot some Sportscenter shows in the comfort of our home.  Well, perhaps the winner of the (Family Fantasy Football) League can come up here and be interviewed at our authentic ESPN interviewing desk."
You may even be able to read about it soon in ESPN the Magazine; they've apparently been trying to arrange an interview with Shane for an item on the big sale.
So what did it cost? That, Besty says, will remain a secret.

Special thanks are in order for Robbie and Magdi, who once again hosted a memorable Thanksgiving reunion last month.
This year's head count was in the neighborhood of 50 people altogether, and things couldn't have gone more smoothly.
Thanks to Robbie's precise planning and Magdi's unfailing role as family morale officer (not to mention his delicious falafel sandwiches), this year's get-together was arguably the best yet.
So from the writers and readers of the family Web site, we salute you, guys, and thank you for your extraordinary steps to keep a wonderful tradition alive.
POLL RESULTS: Just before Thanksgiving, we asked you what you were most looking forward to in Destin. Here are the results (as Bobby breathes a sigh of relief.)

1) The family (6 votes)
2) The food (4 votes)
3) The annual football
     game (4 votes)
4) The annual game of
    "Flick Boogers at
    Bobby When He's

YOUR TURN
TAKING THE PLUNGE
Get well soon, Ken. We're all thinking about you!
FINALLY!
Shane pops the question
DESTIN, Fla. -- For most, that it would eventually happen was a given. When it would happen, however, was another question altogether.
   Well, on
Thanksgiving
Day,
Shane
finally
answered
that ques-
tion by proposing to
Betsy at the annual Destin get-together, and in impressive fashion.
After smuggling a Tiffany engagement ring, a diamond solitaire that is impressive in its own right, through security at the airport -- (It was in his shaving kit.) -- he surprised her, and everyone else, by popping the question early Thanksgiving morning.
Betsy, who had watched on as her hubby-to-be was searched at the  airport -- and as the engagement ring
was held to special scrutiny by airport screeners -- insists she had no idea it was coming.
   Not
surprising-
ly, she was
reduced to
giggling and
blushing
for much
of the
holiday. (Not that anybody noticed.)
Now the big question: When's the date?
Well, there isn't one yet, but Betsy says she hopes to set one soon so she can get down to the business of quieting that biological clock of hers.
The next question: Where will the wedding be? Again, shrugs from Besty and Shane.
No matter, the big question has been settled, and Betsy has the hardware to prove it.
Here comes the bride

FANTASY FOOTBALL
  The playoffs
begin next week in
the Family Fantasy
Football League,
and it seems the
cream of last year's crop are out of contention.
Of the four teams vying for the Bob Trophy, only one -- The Big Bad Mamas, coached by
Lanie -- was in the running at this point last year. Also still in the game: Dapper Dan, coached by Peter; Medicine Woman, coached by Lesley; and Uncle Ted, coached by Shane and Betsy.

Got photos?
Actually we know you do. We saw the flashbulbs going off all week long during the annual Thanks-giving reunion. But you know what? So far, we've only got two, one of which is below. So send
copies of your best snapshots to us at [email protected].
We'll post them and share them with the whole gang.
And if you just can't wait for the next update? Check out last year's reunion by clicking
