COVINGTON -- As to who has possession of first place
in the Family
Fantasy
Football
League,
there can
be little
debate.
When it comes to second place, however, things get a little more confusing.
As the seventh week of the season dawns, a half-dozen of the eight teams are locked up in a six-way tie for second. The Georgia Peaches, coached by
Mick and Judy, are in first with a 5-1 record, and The Charioteers, coached by Robbie and Magdi, are bringing up the rear with a 1-5 record. Everybody else, however, has the same win-loss ratio: 3-3.
PAINFULLY CLOSE: Last year, the closest game of the season occured in Week 2 of the year, when Mike Scott's The A-Team lost by less than a point to The Charioteers.
That record stands no longer. In Week 5 this year, The Big Bad Mamas, coached by
Lanie, lost an incredibly tight one to The Georgia Peaches by a score of 55.82 to 55.76. That's less than a tenth of a point. "I hate fractions," Lanie said.

COVINGTON -- The National Football League honors its champion with the coveted Lombardi Trophy, named, of course, after Vince Lombardi,
the myth-
ical coach
who led
his team
to victory
in Super
Bowl I.
   It's
worked so
well for
them, in
fact, that
the Fam-
ily Fantasy Football League has decided to follow suit. This week, the FFFL commissioner's office  unveiled 'The Bob,' the FFFL championship trophy. It, of course, is named after
Bobby, who coached his squad, BludUndEisen, to the top spot in the FFFL's first year.
"I think the shiny faux metallic cup and sturdy synthetic base perfectly capture the mystique that is Bobby," FFFL Commissioner
Mookie Scott said.
Borrowing from another pro league -- The National Hockey League -- the commish  will have the name of each champ affixed to the the trophy, which will be held for a year by the champs before being reliquished to their successor.
It will be turned over to Bobby in a ceremony this weekend.
