Family members hit the road for summer vacations
The Family Fantasy Football League draft will take place in two weeks, but seven teams already are in the huddle. Six teams from last years field of eight have registered to play again this year. The newcomer is Lesleys team, The Survivors. Last years draft occurred before Lesley had a chance to register, so she spent much of the year on the sidelines watching Bobby, Mike and Lanie root their players on. This year, however, she plans to be in the thick of things. Other teams to register so far: BlutUndEisen, last years champ, coached by Bobby. Georgia Peaches, last years post-season runner-up, coached by Mick and Judy. He Hate Me, coached by last years regular-season champ, Mike Scott. Big Bad Mamas, last years late-season threat, coached by Lanie. Above Da Bridge, coached by last years Mr. and Mrs. Congeniality, Shane and Betsy. mikewalsh, the eponymously named team being coached by you guessed it Mike Walsh. Its not too late for other teams to join the season, though. Anyone interested should leave a message on the message board or e-mail the Webmaster.

As the summer draws to a close, it seems like family member after family member has decided now is the time to get a little rest and relaxation. A number of vacations recently came to a close, not the least of which was that of Liz, who rode several trains throughout a handful of Eastern European countries, most notably Russia where she visited Moscow and Poland. She arrived home late Saturday safe and sound, although she sounded like she desperately needed to get reacquainted with her own bed. The Slidell branch of the family hit the road Griswold-style, trucking up to the Smokies and experiencing the purple-mountained majesty of Tennessee. Among the highlights: a horseback ride and a week in a Tennessee cabin. Shane and Betsy also got into the act, jetting out to scenic San Francisco. Betsy was there for a conference, but they got a chance to sightsee, including seeing Barry Bonds smack two 'taters in a Giants game, passing Willie Mays for the most homeruns in franchise history. They also went to wine country and did all the typical tourist stuff, such as cruise Lombard street and visit the wharf. "It was so much fun, we almost stayed longer, but I have to work on Monday," she said.

Bobby poses with the kids in front of the river Nantahla which, he said, is actually some big dumb Indian who got suckered out of all the land for some firewater and a superball. Really, its true! I didn't make that up. OK, maybe just the superball part ... and the firewater."
