THE HEART OF THE MATTER
Fantasy football league is up and running
Bridget and Mack have been married for less than a month, and he's already left her. Well, sort of. He's away on an 11-day tour with the eclectic Chicago-based music group Pinetop Seven, which, according to its Web site, strives "to quietly assemble compelling collages of sounds and words, mini-epics of storytelling and snapshots of an America that Norman Rockwell would never recognize." "This is our first time apart since we've been wed," Bridget wrote recently. "Actually, it's the longest we've been apart since Mack moved to Chicago. I miss him already, and it's only been two days!" It won't last long. After playing tour dates in Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and other places, this most recent leg of the tour will bring him back to his home and happy hearth. Anyone intersted in the band can hear mp3's, read about their music, or even follow the tour at their Web site, www.pine topseven.com. On the "Touring" portion of the Web site, it even features a couple of pics of the Mack "the Knife/Moose," hard at work.

The second annual Family Fantasy Football League draft has been set for Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. CST. The administratative legwork required to begin league play was completed by Mike "The Commish" Scott last week, and invitations to participate, including the league name and password, were e-mailed late Sunday to those who have expressed interest. If you haven't received an invitation but want to play, it's not too late. All a potential player needs to do is leave a note on the family message boad by draft day, and we'll get the pertinent info to them. For those unfamiliar with fantasy football, participants field a "dream team" of NFL players every week. Points are accrued based on how the fantasy team's players did in real-life action. Last year's champ was Bobby, whose team, BludUnd-Eisen defeated Judy and Mick's team, the Georgia Peaches, in the championship game. Unlike last year, when teams were drafted based on ranked lists prepared by each participant, coaches this year will have the opportunity to draft their players live. "That'll be an event in and of itself," Mike said. The NFL season starts the Sunday after the Family Fantasy Football League draft.

Magdi is bouncing back from recent heart attack
participates in the high school season. Earlier this summer, Magidi, after suffering a heart attack, underwent a cardiac catherization. "Two lesions were found next to each other, as shown in photograph, which caused about 95 percent blockage," Robbie wrote. "These were treated with angioplasty and a stent insertion. Angioplasty is done with a balloon-type device, which is inserted into the artery and inflated to push the plaque against the vessel walls. Then a stent is left behind to 'hold' the plaque in place and keep the vessel open."
He may have taken a lickin', but Magdi is taking the necessary steps to make sure he keeps on tickin', according to Robbie. "Magdi is on several medications to keep his heart in working order and other meds to lower his cholesterol and lipid levels," she wrote recently. "In addition, he is on an exercise and diet routine, which he 'adores.' "He is away from soccer for now but has several tests scheduled for October that will determine whether or not he
