Bobby wins first-ever family fantasy league
COVINGTON-- Up until now, Bobby's BludUndEisen could only lay claim to the title of "Oddest Team Name in the Family Fantasy Football League." Now he can add another: champion. After a bruising inaugural season of the family fantasy football league, Bobby won the championship game. In so doing, he put an end to the Cinderella run of the Georgia Peaches, coached by Judy and Mick. Early in the season, the Peaches were the league's doormat, firmly entrenched in last place. Around mid-season however, they surged and became a dominant team, earning a spot in the championship game. Bobby however, had a trump card: NFL MVP Marshall Faulk, who supplemented his already strong lineup. "Well, you know, what can I say?" Bobby said after winning the title. Will he repeat next season? Stay tuned ...
Kelly the Great celebrates 8 By Katy Scott Contributing writer SLIDELL -- One more Scott has left childhood behind for the fingernail polish and Ricky Martin CDs of the pre-teen years. Well, almost. Kelly will reach her eighth birthday today, but she started the celebration early with a Scooby Doo skating party Saturday. About 15 of the birthday girl's closest friends attended, as did a few family members. Kelly was all smiles and said she had a lot of fun. "All my good friends came, and I got lots of presents," she said on the way to a post-party Cracker Barrel extravaganza. Those presents included Harry Potter figurines, a voice- recognition telephone, a purse and several Polly Pocket sets. Steven celebrated his big sister's big day by skating in big-boy skates and falling "a lot less than Kyle," he and Kelly's neighbor. Kelly also impressed many with her Rollerblading abilities, which included skating backwards and beating Katy numerous times in races. But the highlight of the day was the 4-wheeled hokey-pokey, which everyone enjoyed, with one minor exception. "I didn't like shaking my hips," Steven said.

'Indiana Scott' returns from African adventure
By Katy Scott Contributing writer Liz went back to her roots last month when she visited humanity's mother country, Africa. The vacation began in Nairobi, where Liz went on safari. She stayed in elaborate tents, which had running water and electricity for a few hours each day. "We were not exactly roughing it," she said. Each day, Liz and a group of other tourists were escorted through the wilderness in Jeeps. She saw many animals, incuding warthogs, giraffes and lions. One of Liz's most exciting moments came when she was scoping out the terrain from a hot-air balloon. While in
the air, she saw a group of lions kill an antelope. Shortly thereafter, some hyenas stole the kill. The tourists then decided it would be a good idea to land, hop in a Jeep and get a closer look. "As we were driving, I realized that we were going toward lions that were angry and hungry, and we probably looked a lot like hors d'ourvres to them," Liz said. "Then this stupid woman in the back of the Jeep waved and screamed, 'Hi, lions!'" Luckily, Liz made it out alive, and with some pretty great photos.
